Kendall's birthday pictures

We went to JCPenny to get Kendall's first birthday pictures. We went right after Matt got off work and Kendall was in a crazy mood. It was just one of those days. So anyway, I expected Kendall to be a complete nightmare for the photographer.
She was the complete opposite. Kendall stayed still for every pose, gave cute little smiles right on cue, and even followed the photographer after she left the room. I was shocked.  Here are a few of those pictures. Enjoy.

Paper wreath

As promised, here is my first big finished project. I found this idea off Pinterest.com and automatically loved it. I have wanted to get a nice wreath for who knows how long but they are always so dang expensive ($40+). So a super cheap do-it-yourself wreath….why not?

Ok. So you start with an old paperback book you have lying around the house that you obviously don’t need anymore. I used a 375-page book Miracle of Forgiveness. (I felt a little sacrilegious but it was pretty beat up and we have 2 other copies so I got over it.)

I took 3 pages and folded them in half. (This will make 2 flowers.)

I cut the edges off so it looks somewhat circular.

Then I cut a spiral circle. Right now there should be 6 layers of paper. Split it so you have 2  3-layer spirals.

Start rolling. Use a hot glue gun to secure the flower as you roll and some extra after so it doesn’t unroll. PS you are going to use LOTS of glue!

Now use more glue to stick it to your wreath. The tutorial I looked at used a foam wreath thing, but I just got a cheap wood-looking one from Savers.

And here you go! Pretty cool, huh? Looking at it, I can see a few areas that I wish I could fix. But for my first attempt, I think it turned out pretty good:)

The animal farm

So we went to this animal farm in midvale with our buddies Brad and Jessica and thier little boy, Lincoln. It was a lot of fun except it was so stinkin' hot. It was like blanket of heat engulfed you, and I felt so bad because Kendall's cheeks were so red from it. But she survived. And here's some fun pictures.

 Who you callin' turkey, Turkey?
 Gobble, gobble
This pig loves his food so much, he likes to stand in it.
 Feed the birds.
You gotta love those double toilets!
Brad and Lincoln taking a ride on the tractor.
Look at that those driving skills!

Teaching daddy how to drive:)

Fun adventures of late

Matt: In June, Matt found an old wooden baseball bat at a garage sale for super cheap. He got it, sanded it up all nice and burned a whole bunch of cool designs all over it.

He recently got 6 more bats off KSL for real cheap with the plan of making some fun ones and maybe even selling some.

At work, Matt has been working hard on a yearbook campaign. This is where they have digitized around 7,000 or so yearbooks onto Ancestry.com.  To promote the new collection, Matt has helped find many celebrity photos in the collection. They then shared these images with the media (certain publications got rights to certain pictures). They got coverage in People magazine (the one with kim kardashian's wedding on the front) Sports Illustrated, Access Hollywood, and many more. Cool, huh?

Heather: I have been recently introduced to the worderful site of Pinterest.com. I absolutely love it. You can put a virtual "pin" on any cool recipe, craft, picture, decoration, anything that you find on the internet. So it brings all the best parts of the internet into one spot.  I have found a few cute ideas that I've been working on so I'll post pictures as I finish them

Kendall: She has been learning some new things lately. She will give you kisses on the cheek. She gives you high-fives. We're working on having her raise up her arms when we say "touchdown!" (Preping for BYU football games!)

We visited the new waterfalls, creek, and the improved duck pond that was made on the south side of BYU campus. It is absolutely beautiful. Here's some pictures.
Our attempt of a family picture!
 Daddy showing Kendall a waterfall.
 Taking a stroll.
It totally looks like she's saying,"Hey, I know you, right?!"
 Looking up at the rocks.
Woooooo Hoooo!

Throw it in the trash

Kendall is in a new weird phase. She loves putting things in or pulling things out of garbage cans. We have found TV remotes, toys, and shoes in various garbage bins throughout the house. She is also barely tall enough where she'll try and pull junk out of the kitchen garbage can. Great, one more thing to worry about! The other day, I randomly walked into Kendall's room and found her doing this.

This is a little basket full of little random toys/ gagets that she's transfering one by one into the garbage can. Silly girl!

All the extras

I liked the colors in this picture.
Colleen and Crystal came for the weekend. Which was super fun except I didn't take any pictures with them. Lame-o. Anyway, Crystal brought this ginormous Teddy Bear for her pregnant friend. It was funny how mesmerized Kendall was with it. We might just have to get one. Maybe.

So, I was trying to get a good video of her walking around and instead I got this great clip of Kendall biffing it. Its kind of sad but here's a taste of daily life. Everyday is full of learning moments.

Matt and I went to my cousin Jill's wedding reception in Salt Lake. It was catered by Cafe Rio!!! (Too bad we didn't realize that before we had dinner....but don't worry, we ate some anyway!) Kind of lame I don't have any pictures of the bride and groom, oh well. My Grandpa Sangster was there and took one look at Kendall and said "Oh, its little Matt!" The rest of the night, Kendall was referred to as "little Matt" since she looks so much like her dad. Funny.
We recently went to help get Brett and Ashley all packed up for their big move to Connecticut. It was a good workout for Matt and I (more so for Matt) especially since they lived on the 3rd floor. Kendall kept herself busy by helping herself to random toys lying around and exploring everywhere possible.

Kendall loves her Uncle Brett and Aunt Ashley. Have a blast in Connecticut!

The things she carries

Kendall is very mobile now. Walking has definitely brought out her independent side. She often goes off on her own to play in her bedroom and will come back out if she gets bored. She has also been working on walking in the grass, in the water (at the pool), up/down inclines, etc. She is excited to move!

I absolutely love it when I see Kendall carrying around random things throughout the house. Here are some pictures capturing this cute new habit!
Kendall finds this wherever we try to stash it. She must love the bright orange color or something.

One of Dad's running shoes....check.

Matt's bear from when he was little.

Diaper wipes in both hands...maybe she's trying to tell me something.

And don't forget 2 dirty dish towels. You'll never know when those come in handy.
